The Bender Family

Let’s Meet the Bender’s. We are a large blended family who have been foster parents for the past 8 years. We currently have 6 kids in our home and 3 children who are grownups for a total of 9! We are looking to raise money to purchase a large family passenger van so we can continue to foster.

Our current van holds 8, with 2 in car seats it leaves the bigger kids limited space. Additionally, if we would get another foster placement, we would have to take two vehicles to travel anywhere together as a family.

The agency we foster through serves 7 counties, so placements come from all over. That means appointments and visits have us traveling all over as well. Our littlest boy, we adopted from Foster care is medically complex and has cerebral palsy. He gets around with a walker currently, which takes up half of our trunk space. We travel to multiple medical appointments at Nationwide Children’s (which is 2 hours one way to travel) and 2-3 therapies a week just for him alone. Not to mention once sport season starts. We will have soccer & cheerleading practices and games to juggle.

We as a foster family want to continue to foster kiddos as well as get our current kiddos from point A to B with ease. The purchase of this large passenger van would provide us the ability to foster more kiddos and the space to comfortably Transport our current kiddos anywhere they need to be.
